-Survey Started For Worth 474 Crore Project at Mandoli, Pabra and Nanowal

Patiala’s rural habitation would get 100 percent water supply coverage with the starting of the surface water project in coming October, said Mrs. Preneet Kaur, Member of Parliament today.
While getting the survey of the project started from water treatment plant site village Mandoli, Mrs Preneet Kaur extended best wishes to MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur on video calling. She said that it was like a long cherished dream come true with the implementation of this project on ground.
She said that currently Rural Patiala had 50 percent access to water supply but as soon as this project would be completed in 30 months, the reach of water supply to be increased to 100 percent. MP said that tender of this coveted project has been allocated and the work would be started on ground in October, following the requisite NOCs from various departments. This DGPS Survey has also been started at other two WTP sites Pabra and Nanowal today.
Giving details of the project that was approved to supply surface water (canal water) for drinking purposes to 408 villages of District Patiala and Fatehgarh Sahib, she said that the project would cost Rs. 474.03 crore which will be funded by World Bank / Jal Jiwan Mission and State Government. Apart from the supply of surface water, internal improvement of existing rural water supply schemes would also be done under this project.
MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur while expressing thanks to Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh, Member of Parliament, Patiala Mrs. Preneet Kaur and Minister for Water Supply and Sanitation, Mrs. Razia Sultana, for showing keen attention for 100 percent supply of potable water to rural population, said that this would benefit about 1 lakh households having approximate population of 6 lakhs.
It is worthwhile to mention that Punjab CM Captain Amrinder Singh had laid foundation stone of this prominent project last year. Under this project, Water Treatments Plants would be constructed in 2 villages Mandoli, Block Ghanour (39 MLD) and Pabra, Block Rajpura (18 MLD) of district Patiala and village Nanowal, Block Bassi Pathana (12 MLD) of district Fatehgarh Sahib. Canal water for these Water Treatment Plants would be taken from Arnoli, Koli and Rajpura distributaries respectively. DI pipes of a total length of 630 kms of different sizes would be laid along the Roads. By the time the design of the firm gets approved, the NOC will be obtained by the department at Government Level from Punjab PWD, B&R, Mandi Board, Powercom, Forest and Wildlife, BSNL, Reliance, IOC, GAIL, Railway etc. Tenders for this work were awarded to M/s KNK Faridabad Haryana with partnership of JWIL Infra (Jindal Water Infrastructure Ltd).
Superintendent Engineer Rural Water Supply and Sanitation, Er. Sukhminder Singh Pandher, said that Apart from the above, more than 90 percent water connections have been provided in the 354 villages of the district. In the last two years estimates of 26 new water supply schemes and augmentation of 148 water supply schemes covering 240 villages have been approved under World Bank / NABARD etc.
